Why Geisha?

Geisha is a coffee variety with roots in Ethiopia, prized for its delicate floral aromas. Our edition is grown in Guatemala.

Its rarity begins, in part, on the tree. Branches can be brittle, yields are modest, and bringing out its finest character calls for careful cultivation in the right conditions. It asks a great deal of a grower for a relatively small harvest.

That care finds its reward in the cup: gentle fragrance, honeyed sweetness, and the kind of detail that invites you to slow down. A rare pleasure, worth making time for.

The fragrance

Freshly ground, look for the clean sweetness of raw sugar, loose-leaf black tea, and hints of flowers and fragrant spice. Hot water draws out jasmine and a bright note of lime, with a softer sweetness reminiscent of rosewater biscuits.

In the cup

A clear, syrup-like sweetness gives the cup a generous, rounded feel. Jasmine and citrus mingle with the gentle herbal note of sweetened lemongrass tea. As the coffee cools, red apple and pear emerge, with a suggestion of passion fruit.

The finish is long and tea-like, touched with lemon peel and honeysuckle. Especially lovely as a pour-over, with time to notice how the cup changes between sips.
